Episode 36: Emotional Intelligence Part V – Decision Making

In this episode of the Aviation Business Podcast, we dive deeper into Emotional Intelligence by exploring the Decision Making composite realm of the EQi 2.0 Emotional Intelligence Model. Learn more about how Problem Solving, Reality Testing, and Impulse Control all combine to evaluate the overall health of your Interpersonal abilities.

The Decision Making composite consists of the following sub-scales:

1. Problem Solving – is the ability to find solutions to problems in situations where emotions are involved. Problem-solving includes the ability to understand how emotions impact decision making.

2. Reality Testing – is the capacity to remain objective by seeing things as they really are. This capacity involves recognizing when emotions or personal bias can cause one to be less objective.

3. Impulse Control – is the ability to resist or delay an impulse, drive or temptation to act that involves avoiding rash behaviors and decision making.

These three sub-scales combined determine your composite score, or overall heath in the Decision Making realm of emotional intelligence.
